“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 4:6

The 2023 Annual Report, released this month, provides an overview of Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) activities, services and resources. Dan Lindh, president and CEO, and Jim Green, board chair, open the report with a letter offering an overview of the year.

In this letter they write, “We are convinced that God has called Presbyterian Homes & Services to ‘shine on’ in ministry (2 Corinthians 4:6). … Fulfilling this mission is not without hurdles, but 2023 was a year in which we made progress in recovering from severe workforce challenges, COVID-19 disruption and financial pressures. … Our census strengthened, operating revenue turned positive, and we invested in employees at the highest levels in our history.”

Highlights of the report include stories about a chef who found joy in his second career with a PHS senior living community, and sisters who found a PHS community that offered nothing but love and care to their mother and aunt who experienced memory loss. The report also details PHS financial results, initiatives connected to our home and community services, stewardship of resources and information regarding how and where we serve.

“Our ministry makes the love of God tangible to the older adults we serve,” conclude Dan and Jim.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…” – Hebrews 10:23-24

2021 Annual Report coverThe 2021 Annual Report, released this month, provides an overview of Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) activities, services and resources. Dan Lindh, president and CEO, and Norman Wenck, board chair, open the report with a letter sharing highlights of 2021 and goals for 2022.

In this letter they write, “We entitle this report ‘better together’ because of the many ways we have found resilience and hope in community. This experience of togetherness is at the heart of our Mission and results in the blessing of lives filled with purpose. Only together can we live into God’s larger view for our lives.”

Announcing PHS 2020 Annual Report https://preshomes.org/phs-news/announcing-phs-2020-annual-report/ Thu, 01 Apr 2021 16:11:23 +0000 https://preshomes.org/?post_type=phs-news&p=12661

How exactly does one try to summarize 2020?

We might use words like unprecedented, relentless or heartbreaking. But the word we chose for the report’s title was TOGETHER.

This year has re-awakened us to the power of community, and not just as something we are yearning for after the pandemic, but as the precious connections at the heart of our mission. We have witnessed that God’s light, reflected in acts of love, is most brilliant in times of darkness. We have persevered together and through the Holy Spirit we have accomplished so much more than we would have thought possible.

We dedicated this year’s report to those we lost to the COVID pandemic and to all those who helped us to live together in the presence of God’s love despite the pain of this year.

In 2020, our 65th year of ministry, we saw our team grow to 7,192 employees and along with 3,833 volunteers and nearly 3,000 donors, we made a difference in the lives of 26,079 older adults.

Throughout 2020 we witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit moving through staff, volunteers, neighbors, family members and seemingly total strangers. We were truly surrounded by angels. As the vaccine rollout and reduction in cases give us new signs of hope, we are truly grateful for our many partners in this ministry. Lord willing, we look forward to coming out of this pandemic stronger than ever.
