Presbyterian Homes & Services to develop senior housing at Highland Bridge, former Ford Site in St. Paul
Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) and Senior Housing Partners (SHP) were honored to participate in the virtual groundbreaking and naming event hosted by Ryan Companies (Ryan) at the former Ford site in St. Paul, MN. Highland Bridge is the new name of the full 122-acre development situated along the Mississippi River in the Highland Park neighborhood. A video of the groundbreaking and naming ceremony was released to the public today.
PHS has been named to provide a senior living component, which will be developed at a future time by SHP. “Our faith-based heritage provides a clear vision to extend our mission into areas of unmet need, such as at this forward-thinking development,” said Jon Fletcher, Vice President of Senior Housing Partners, the project development arm of PHS. “In concert with the City of St. Paul, Ryan Companies and community stakeholders, we have an excellent team assembled to create a welcoming environment for all,” he said.
With multiple organizations joining Ryan in the development, the vision for the entire site is a connected, livable, mixed-use neighborhood that looks to the future with clean technologies and high quality design for energy, buildings and infrastructure.
PHS, which has a signed purchase agreement with Ryan, is in the early stages of planning and has not yet named or broken ground specifically for the senior living community. Preliminary plans for the project include independent living, assisted living and memory care apartment options with an array of service offerings and amenities designed to give residents the freedom to build and enjoy new relationships while staying in close proximity to family and friends. “We are pleased to be able to continue to serve Highland Park, and the greater Twin Cities, by delivering a senior living community that will allow residents to age in place and live well while being woven into the fabric of a uniquely walkable and highly programmed master planned mixed-use development,” said Fletcher.
The location is on the site of the former Ford Motor Co. automobile plant which operated from 1925 to 2011. After over a decade of planning, site construction work began this spring, creating essential infrastructure that lays the foundation for much needed affordable housing, senior housing, single-family and multi-unit residences, public parks and open spaces. It also provides the framework for PHS and other the private developments that will provide new jobs, homes, and amenities that will contribute to the livability of the City.
